Cape Coast Expeditions offers exciting, educational, and informative eco-tours from the heart of the West Coast, Yzerfontein. The waters surrounding Yzerfontein are fortunate to be home to a remarkable array of species, including African penguins, Cape Fur Seals, Dolphins, Southern Right whales, Humpback whales, Black Cormorants, Oyster Catchers, Great White Pelicans, and many more. This region is one of the world’s most diverse marine ecosystems, offering spectacular natural beauty and dynamic coastal experiences. Our tours immerse guests in these rich habitats, showcasing the thriving marine life above and below the water’s surface, including the iconic species that call this area home. While exploring the ruggid 16-Mile Beach and nearby uninhabited islands such as Dassen Island, we also share valuable insights into the ecological challenges these systems face and discuss how we can all contribute to their conservation and long-term protection.
While this is not a dedicated whale watching trip, we sometimes encounter marine wildlife such as seals, seabirds, and on occasions — even dolphins or whales, from a legal distance.

Captain and Owner, Alan Collinge, brings over 10 years of global sailing experience. Having led multiple ocean-crossing expeditions, spent thousands of hours underwater on both scuba and apnea, and developed a deep affinity for the marine world, he is eager to share his passions and contribute to the conservation of this vital ecosystem. Alan’s goal is to inspire guests with his energy, fostering a deeper appreciation for the ocean and the incredible ecosystem it sustains.

Our state-of-the-art Infanta 900 LR puts our vessel at the pinnacle of marine based tours in South Africa. With twin 300HP Suzuki Outboards, custom designed deck area and all of the latest safety gear onboard, we can proudly call her one of the safest, most comfortable and most efficient powerboats around.
